These were taken after the space shuttle Columbia exploded. We went to the memorial to pay our respects. Our community came togther for weeks to mourn the astronauts killed in that accident.Here is a walk through some of what we experienced.

    oh wow, i didn’t realize you lived so close to that. even here, where i am, we were very much aware of how tragic this was for everyone. it certainly does show how at these times, a community is formed. you don’t necessarily have to live there to feel the loss and understand the heartache of those involved.
    i’m doing the hunt today as well.

    Amazing how quickly that corner filled up with flowers, wasn’t it. Excellent example of community.

    That was the strangest thing…. so many people, but so quiet… and all the flowers and signs and just outpouring…. It was amazing

    Oh yes……..it makes me take a few moments and contemplate what life really is!!—*gooseflesh*.

    And the sad part is, it takes a tragedy like this to make a country bow and thank the people who serve the community and country –instead of doing it daily!!! (and I’m a guilty one too).

    This is just a great way to show your community. Thank you.

    OH MY, It’s so heartbreaking to see these pictures and to know that the crew of the space shuttle were killed, it’s really great that the community came together for weeks to mourn them.

    I love the pictures althought it’s really heartbreaking to read and see the words on the pics.

    I love these pics. It makes me sad that sometimes it takes a tragedy to bring a community together. But everything happens for a reason, right? Great photos – tugs at your heart’s strings.
